Andrew Abraham

andy-0101 My name in Andrew Abraham. I have been investing in commodities and managed futures since 1994. I adhere to the philosophy of trend following. Trend following stresses a disciplined approach to commodity/ futures trading. Successful trend following and commodity futures investing requires patience, discipline and actively managing the risk. What sets me apart from other traders is that I am not only concerned about the return on investment but how much risk I will have to tolerate to achieve my goals.

Hypothetical Trading Of Commodity Futures

All too many times system sellers or new commodity trading advisors spout “Hypothetical trading Results” that look great. The question you need to ask yourself is do you want hypothetical profits…or real profits. There are so many problems and issues with hypothetical results. Many times they do not have slippage accounted for. In the real world this can make or break a system. The greater reality is that in the real world of commodity trading your years profits can simply boil down to one or two trades that really worked. If you miss those trades you miss the year. In reality I have had to pass certain trades (because of gaps in price that would have extended my risk) that would have garnished large “hypothetical profits”. However if you look on the back results…these trades would show…but they were not reality.

My suggestion for real profits when investing in commodities is use a thought out methodology based on a heavy dose of risk management with multiple systems…and possibly multiple time frames. Accept the reality that sometimes signals can be actualized in reality. As well for those seeking real profits find established commodity trading advisors who are ardent followers of trend following and enter them when they have their inevitable draw downs.

I seek real profits…I seek to compound my way to wealth over long periods of time. Trend following is not easy. Trend following is a marathon and in order to finish this marathon & life time strategy one needs patience and discipline.
