Andrew Abraham

andy-0101 My name in Andrew Abraham. I have been investing in commodities and managed futures since 1994. I adhere to the philosophy of trend following. Trend following stresses a disciplined approach to commodity/ futures trading. Successful trend following and commodity futures investing requires patience, discipline and actively managing the risk. What sets me apart from other traders is that I am not only concerned about the return on investment but how much risk I will have to tolerate to achieve my goals.

Can you spell Commodities?

In all honesty spelling is not my greatest talent. Thank Gd for spell check. I am not the only person in the world who at times did not spell commodities correctly or made trend following one word or two words. Regardless of spelling the key to investment success is diversification. Part of this diversification should be at least 5% of your net worth allocated to trend following. Many brokerages have suggested this to their clients such as Dean Witter suggested John Henry to it’s clients.

According to commodity guru Jim Rogers, Commodities are one of the few areas of the world economy that have bullish fundamentals”. Even a layman can see the increased demand coming from emerging markets. As well Jim Rogers states “For 25 years there’s been very little investment in production capacity, so we’ve had supply going down at a time when demand is going up.”

Basic law of supply and demand.

Another one of the next great reasons to allocate to trend following is the lack of correlation of commodities and trend following to bonds & stocks. In 2008 while the world was burning, commodities such as wheat and crude surged. Later on they trended to the downside and again more profits for trend followers.

Trend following has been a life time strategy for me enabling me to compound my way to wealth. It takes patience and discipline. Forget about spelling commodities…Learn about trend following. Allocate a percentage of your net worth to this asset class.
