andy-0101 My name in Andrew Abraham. I have been investing in commodities and managed futures since 1994. I adhere to the philosophy of trend following. Trend following stresses a disciplined approach to commodity/ futures trading. Successful trend following and commodity futures investing requires patience, discipline and actively managing the risk. What sets me apart from other traders is that I am not only concerned about the return on investment but how much risk I will have to tolerate to achieve my goals.

Trade of the Century for Trend followers

Trend followers never need to protect. Trend followers just need to make themselves available. Recently read an interesting piece by Kyle Bass. He calls Japanese govt bonds the trade of the century. His fundamental arguments make alot of sense. Kyle states many obvious issues such as the declining population in Japan yet the incremental costs to fund. His basic premise is that Japan is spending more than she is bringing in and how can that continue? This effects the Japanese govt bonds which are at extreme lows. He further points out that most of the ownership of these bonds are the Japanese themselves. He has a trade on which he is betting the interest rates will dramatically change in Japan. This trade is costing him approx 2% of his fund per year to see if it work. If it works he states that $30 million dollars can dwarf into $30 billion dollars ( might be off…but a huge ROI if the trade works).

My suggestion to my fellow trend followers…must yourself available if this trade comes into play. We do not need to predict anything. Trend followers were there along George Soros with the British pound trade..as well as the bond trades in 1994. Have a plan…follow it…maintain the discipline & patience to compound your money.
