Andrew Abraham

andy-0101 My name in Andrew Abraham. I have been investing in commodities and managed futures since 1994. I adhere to the philosophy of trend following. Trend following stresses a disciplined approach to commodity/ futures trading. Successful trend following and commodity futures investing requires patience, discipline and actively managing the risk. What sets me apart from other traders is that I am not only concerned about the return on investment but how much risk I will have to tolerate to achieve my goals.

Building Your Own Equity Curve When Trend Following

The key of trend following is to grow your net worth or own personal equity curve over time. The idea I am referring to is taking your $100,000 or $1,000,000 and compounding and seeing what it will be in 10 years. Yes 10 years! This is not a get rich quick scheme. This is a compound your way to wealth over a very long period of time. This is a strategy you should want to do for the rest of your life. To clarify further, Hopefully if you have the discipline, patience and favorable markets that your $100,000 in year 10 might be $300,000 or $500,000 or if great markets like in the 1980s $1,000,000 or if $1,000,000 the same growth. Comparatively if you had invested in the US Stock market for 10 years you would have lost money! This does not build an equity curve.

My personal choice is a large basket of commodities which include everything we touch in our lives. More so trend following and having a managed account gives me transparency and liquidity. This is the key. Think about what will your investment look like in 10 years…20 years…Compounding is the greatest discovery for mankind. As investors we need to take advantage of compounding. When you think in the above mentioned context, any trade…any month or for that fact any year does not mean anything and is easier to take losses or eventual draw downs.

Trend following is a lifetime strategy.

Futures trading involves risk. People can and do lose money
