Andrew Abraham

andy-0101 My name in Andrew Abraham. I have been investing in commodities and managed futures since 1994. I adhere to the philosophy of trend following. Trend following stresses a disciplined approach to commodity/ futures trading. Successful trend following and commodity futures investing requires patience, discipline and actively managing the risk. What sets me apart from other traders is that I am not only concerned about the return on investment but how much risk I will have to tolerate to achieve my goals.

Having to be Right When Investing

Having to be Right When Investing
Too often when people invest they feel they have to be right. This is exactly the wrong way to make money. If someone feels they are more right than the market they could let a small loss parlay into a large loss. None of us have a crystal ball and markets can go any direction. Just because we put on a trade it does not have to work. Even with the greatest fundamental or even technical research any trade is 50/50. When I trade I have no idea if a trade will work. Actually I do the opposite of these investors that need to be right. I say to myself “how much will this cost me to see if the trade works”. How many times have you ever heard something like that? Probably never! I learned to think this way after all my years trading. I know that I know nothing. I know the market knows which direction it wants to go. I simply resign myself to this fact. I identify the strongest markets and possibly if they will trend I might catch a piece of this trend. I do not have to be right. I have to follow my methodology be disciplined and patient when trends appear. This is what a trend follower is. No need to be right. Just the need to try to compound money over time.
