Andrew Abraham

andy-0101 My name in Andrew Abraham. I have been investing in commodities and managed futures since 1994. I adhere to the philosophy of trend following. Trend following stresses a disciplined approach to commodity/ futures trading. Successful trend following and commodity futures investing requires patience, discipline and actively managing the risk. What sets me apart from other traders is that I am not only concerned about the return on investment but how much risk I will have to tolerate to achieve my goals.

Cyprus-Banking Fears & Panic – Bank Depositors Lose between 6.75% to 9.9% of Their Money

Cyprus announced that they will impose a levy of 6.75% on deposits of less than €100,000 and 9.9% above that. The word levy is another word for theft. The people who trusted the banks in Cyprus just had between 6.75% and 9.9% of their savings stolen. There is no other word! The question is what is the next shoe to fall. Even though the EU” promised” a one time only…who can trust their banks in countries such as Greece, Spain, Portugal, and probably anywhere. If MF Global, once one of the largest commodity futures merchants for hundreds of years, can take money out (“Steal”) of client segregated accounts to gamble on EU government bonds and Jon Corzine under oath state he knew nothing about we are all in big trouble going forward. It is amazing he has not seen a day in jail rather the beaches in the Hamptons.

What do you do? Great question. The truth no one really has the silver bullet answer however it would seem to be logical to be diversified. Spread out your risks. Nothing is safe anymore. Anything can happen. Everything we always new and accepted is shaking. Rules are not rules. Rules can be changed. The US Dollar is not safe. Gold is not safe. Real estate is not safe!

Is Cyprus the tip of the iceberg?
