Andrew Abraham

andy-0101 My name in Andrew Abraham. I have been investing in commodities and managed futures since 1994. I adhere to the philosophy of trend following. Trend following stresses a disciplined approach to commodity/ futures trading. Successful trend following and commodity futures investing requires patience, discipline and actively managing the risk. What sets me apart from other traders is that I am not only concerned about the return on investment but how much risk I will have to tolerate to achieve my goals.

Following your Trading Plan when Trend Following

I want to share a short story. In my trading I came into today long several stock indices.Actually they have been some of the strongest markets I look at besides Natural Gas & the US Dollar. It is easy to have a sinking feeling with the news coming out of Cyprus however I took a small risk in each of these indexes several days and weeks ago depending on the system. I was long the Dow, Singapore Straits Index, the Cac and the Eurostoxx. Got taken out with a small loss on the Singapore index this morning however just now I was filled on another one of my trading programs some mini dow contracts. This would not have been a trade I would have liked to have taken. In the past some of these have been my biggest winners. Successful trading is following your trading plan and accepting the outcomes of the trades. The big key point is that I am “trying” to risk small percentages on my account & clients accounts to see if a trade works. It is never easy! There are always losses and long periods you do not make money…The last 2 years were very tough for trend followers. You have to be committed, disciplined and patient!

Trend Following is a marathon. Everyone knows marathons are not easy!
