Andrew Abraham

andy-0101 My name in Andrew Abraham. I have been investing in commodities and managed futures since 1994. I adhere to the philosophy of trend following. Trend following stresses a disciplined approach to commodity/ futures trading. Successful trend following and commodity futures investing requires patience, discipline and actively managing the risk. What sets me apart from other traders is that I am not only concerned about the return on investment but how much risk I will have to tolerate to achieve my goals.

Avid Trend Follower or Practitioner of Trend Following

I get numerous emails like this every day. So few traders have had real training. Yesterday I spoke with a new aspiring trader and was so disappointed from course sellers. He has spent so much money learning to trade and was frustrated. He was shocked when I told him, how hard trading really is. He was floored when I told him, he would have countless losses and long periods in which he would not make money.

He told me I was not a good salesman. I explained that trading can not be learnt from a weekend course or a book. It was a process…actually a long process.

As in the email below, this trader realized that it is not about any secret indicator or system. It is discipline and trading psychology.

Do not be an avid follower, be an avid practitioner. Accept the risks and the uncertainty. Trade with a plan…

If I can do this…so can you with the proper mindset and guidance…

Hello Andrew,

I have become an avid follower of your trend following work. It is excellent and has helped me to become a more disciplined trader. Your book is the best and most practical treatment of the subject I have seen. Thank you for your efforts to share your knowledge with us all.

I do need a little guidance and was hoping you could point me in the right direction.

I am a self taught technical analyst and trend follower, trading exclusively in the equities markets. I have met with good success after many years of paying my dues and tuition at the school of hard knocks.

I am looking to learn the futures markets so I can apply my trading/trend following methods across a wider cross section of markets.

Can you recommend any learning resources to gain knowledge in the specifics, mechanics and operations of trading the futures markets?

Your response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your commitment to helping us all learn and grow.

Very best regards,
